The benefits to the island economy of shopping locally are huge. For every £1 spent on local produce, the equivalent of £2.50* comes back to the local economy.

But it is more than just economics. It is about knowing where your food comes from, and how well it is produced. It is about meeting the person who farmed that meat in an extensive and welfare friendly way, or the fisherman who pulled in the creel that caught your lobster.

“Think globally, act locally”.

Sourcing your food locally reduces your carbon footprint. Buying vegetables, meat and fish that have been grown and caught locally, incurring minimal food miles, is so much better for the environment.
